LisaHaving had my Colours and Style analysed after a friend dramatically changing her appearance I was delighted to find that the Oxford Franchise became available for me to purchase 5 years later!

I can honestly say I've never looked back and have truly found my "Niche in Life." Helping people to understand this wonderful gift has given me a great business that I'm really passionate about and enjoy doing every day!

Originally I set out to work part-time as this is all I wanted in the beginning as I had a small family and this business allows you to work around that as and when you please. However, because I enjoyed it so much and realised the potential I very quickly increased the business to the size it is today and now have a very large successful franchise helping clients to look good and feel good about themselves everyday!

HilaryBecoming a Consultant was the best decision I ever made. Having been in the secondary education sector as a senior manager prior to this, I cannot emphasise enough the sense of liberation and sheer pleasure of waking up every day and looking forward to my job, and, being able to pick and choose when I want to work. I still love the 'teaching' aspect of this job but the class sizes are small and the vast majority do want to be there! Giving presentations to audiences is a pleasure, classes are truly 'client focussed' – I have time to work with them at their pace, and knowing that the only 'exam' ahead of my clients is to get dressed and look their best is very, very exciting.

What gives me a real buzz?

  • Seeing a client, several years after completion of her journey, looking absolutely fantastic
  • Receiving feedback from clients who are ecstatic about their experience
  • Shopping trips with clients – whoppee!!
  • Welcoming new clients and the sense of anticipation of what lies ahead
  • When the phone rings for another booking and it is the result of word of mouth
  • Pride in running my own business – what a sense of achievement when I look at my turnover for the last 9 years

I have not met another Consultant with House of Colour who does not love their job. It seems to me that we have fun, we are busy and we help others feel more confident about themselves. Almost perfect? . . . I think so. It is not in my nature to take a risk, but in 2002 I did, and oh boy am I glad!

HelenHaving had my colours and image done with HOC several years ago the seed was planted in my mind that one day I would love to become a consultant myself. Fast forward 8 years and here I am covering Rickmansworth, Northwood and Stanmore. I began my HOC life in April 2008 as a sub contractor in an existing consultant's business covering Watford and Rickmansworth which broke me in gently before just recently taking the plunge to become a fully fledged consultant in my own right.

The intensive training was second to none and the ongoing support offered by all concerned has been fantastic. The whole ethos of HOC sits very well with me, its all about people and giving the best possible service and experiences to clients. I cant think of a better job for anyone who genuinely loves clothes, shopping and fashion and of course people. You have to love people to do this and have a genuine interest in them as you help them become transformed and blossom as they discover their best colours and finally understand what clothes are "them" and allow them to be who they really are.

The best bit about this job is when I see a client after their consultation and they are so enthusiastic about their experiences of shopping and receiving compliments about the way they look. I want to say "see I told you so, I knew that was going to happen" It makes me feel good to know I have helped someone feel and look better. Its all about the added value you can give which comes both from the excellent training and a large part from my own experiences which I am delighted to impart.

HelenI became a Consultant in May 2008 after 22 years in an IT business that sadly went bust. I had my colours and image done over 16 years ago and had lived and breathed it ever since. So much so that I implemented it into the induction programme of my Client Facing team. My 50+ plan was to become a Consultant when the IT business had sold, however this was to become my 40+ plan instead and I haven't looked back since.

This year has been phenomenal for me, professionally I have been appointed as a Regional Manager, won the award for the highest conversion from Colour Clients to Image, passed my Professional Excellence Certification and I am about to feature on our local Radio Station, personally I have lost 4 stone and I know becoming a Consultant was one of the driving reasons for my success.

Gone are the days of leaving the house in the dark and returning in the dark, only seeing my family at the weekends when I was crabby and tired, my work life balance is restored (well almost!) and now I have the time to focus on myself and my family. I like instant results, the sense of achievement I feel with every client through my Studio gives me my energy and emotional reward, I have never experienced job satisfaction like it!

HelenI began my career with House of Colour when my youngest son was 3. I knew I needed to earn some money and stretch my brain. I also wanted to make a difference in people's lives. I was benefitting from my own experience with House of Colour on a daily basis and wanted to pass on what I had become passionate about. I found the training fascinating and it was so good to be able to start my business immediately after I had trained and to see my confidence and my bank balance grow.

After about a year, my marriage broke up and I realised the bills were my responsibility now! I cranked up the marketing and quickly became really successful providing myself and children with a comfortable lifestyle. As time went on I was offered the opportunity to work as part of the training team which I found extremely rewarding. As my business grew I took on another consultant to subcontract to me and then when I then had the opportunity, a few years on, to buy the company, she was ready to buy my consultancy from me and I now subcontract to her.

It's this flexibility of the House of Colour franchise model and the significant rewards that have made this such a great choice for me. And every day you're coaching people through their own fascinating journey of discovery – what could be more satisfying? I had never thought about running my own business before but you try and stop me now!
